Similarities between Vectra C facelift and Astra H

A perfect example is the Opel Vectra C facelift (2005–2008) and the Opel Astra H (2004–2009). Although they belong to different classes – the Vectra being a mid-size sedan and the Astra a compact hatchback – both clearly share the same Opel design DNA. 🔹 Exterior design – visual resemblance At first glance, they could almost be mistaken for siblings.Both cars feature the signature Opel grille with a central chrome bar and emblem, elongated headlights, and sculpted hood lines. Even the front bumper follows the same shape, with large air intakes and chrome detailing. The Vectra C facelift is built on the GM Epsilon platform, featuring a multilink rear suspension and larger engines (1.8–3.2L petrol, 1.9 CDTI diesel). The Astra H uses the GM Delta platform, with a torsion beam rear axle and smaller, more economical engines (1.3–2.0L). As a result, driving dynamics differ significantly: the Vectra feels smoother and more stable on highways, while the Astra is agile and city-friendly. 🔹 Conclusion In essence, the Astra H can be seen as a compact reinterpretation of the Vectra C facelift, sharing its overall aesthetic and design philosophy.
