Porsche Called It One of the Most Extensive Upgrades in Its History. From 20 Feet, the Cayenne Looks the Same.

Porsche did not hide its pride when the current Cayenne arrived. The company described the update as one of the most extensive in its history. Engineers reworked a lot under the skin. The problem is simple: you cannot see most of it.

Park the new car next to the old one and the difference is small. The body panels are largely the same. The front end is new, the taillights are new, and the rear apron is revised. Beyond that, the silhouette is familiar.

That is a real issue for owners who want their SUV to look as special as it drives. LARTE Design has an answer for the Cayenne S Coupé and GTS Coupé. It replaces cheap-looking plastic with premium dry carbon. This article explains what the kit changes and how it is made. It also covers what to check after installation.

Why the Cayenne Looks So Similar

Many test drivers reached the same conclusion after seeing the car in person. The changes are not obvious from the outside. Several reviewers said that from about 20 feet away, the car does not look like a major redesign. One recent review of the Coupé even called the styling somewhat anonymous.

This is not a criticism of the engineering. It is a design choice. Porsche evolves its shapes slowly. The Cayenne has always been a calm, well-proportioned SUV. A buyer who wants more aggression has to look elsewhere.

What owners notice first

Owners usually notice the rear. One member of a Porsche forum configured a Cayenne S Coupé E-Hybrid. He wrote that the rear has way too much plastic. In his view, it cheapens the look of the car.

That comment points to the weak spot. The rear of the Coupé is a large, smooth surface. Black plastic trim fills much of the lower area. On a car at this price level, that stands out.

The LARTE Edition for the Cayenne Coupé

The LARTE Edition is built for the 2025–2027 Cayenne S Coupé and GTS Coupé. It does not only add a few parts. The design of the whole car is redrawn. Front, sides and rear read as one continuous line.

The key material is dry carbon. It replaces the plastic where the car looks weakest. The result is a Cayenne that finally looks like the performance SUV Porsche says it is.

ℹ️ Technical Note: Dry carbon is made from pre-impregnated carbon cloth. It is cured under pressure and heat. This gives a lighter and more precise part than a simple wet layup.

Shaped in Clay First

Every LARTE Design project starts with clay. A full-size model of the part is shaped by hand, directly on the car. The studio has worked this way since 2012.

Alexej Janowski, the founder, explains why. Clay gets you to an approved design faster. The digital tools then make the form precise and ready for production.

He gives a clear example. One bumper took 8–11 weeks to reach an approved design in digital. In clay, the same step took one to two weeks.

There is also a craft side. Janowski says the modeller works like a sculptor, with hands, eye and light. Light matters because a surface can look perfect on a screen and flat on the road. Clay shows how reflections run along the body.

What the Kit Changes

The kit is split into four areas. Each one targets a specific weakness of the stock car.

Rear

The rear gets the biggest change. The kit includes:

  • A diffuser with additional brake lights
  • Dual exhaust tips mounted on the factory pipes
  • A trunk-lid lip spoiler
  • Roof spoiler overlays

The additional brake lights are synchronised with the factory lights. They work together with the original system. The exhaust tips use the factory pipes, so the exhaust itself is not changed. Together, these parts give the rear the presence of a sports car.

Hood

The carbon hood has air vents. They follow the spirit of the 911 GT models. This gives the Cayenne the face of a driver’s car. It also removes the calm, formal look of the stock hood.

Front

The front section adds dynamics without changing the stance. It includes:

  • A front splitter
  • Upper bumper inserts
  • Air-intake overlays
  • A grille set

Ground clearance stays unchanged. This matters for daily use. Steep driveways and speed bumps do not become a new problem.

Sides

The side parts carry the carbon line from wheel to wheel. They include front and rear fender arches, door mouldings and mirror caps. Without them, a front and rear kit can look disconnected. With them, the whole car follows one design theme.

Configurations and Finish

The kit is not all-or-nothing. It comes as accent configurations and as the full exterior package. An owner can start with a few parts. Another owner can order the complete look.

The launch car is shown in red with a black upper section. Forged wheels are available separately as an optional add-on.

Three finishes are offered:

  • Exposed dry carbon with a gloss lacquer
  • Exposed dry carbon with a matte lacquer
  • Body colour

The body-colour option suits owners who want a cleaner look. The exposed weave suits owners who want the carbon to be seen.

Materials and Build Quality

Material quality decides whether a body kit lasts. Cheap parts fade, crack or warp. This is where the LARTE Edition makes its strongest claims.

  • The carbon parts are 100% dry carbon.
  • They are made at a German facility that supplies dry-carbon components to Koenigsegg, Bugatti and Porsche.
  • They are cured in an autoclave.
  • They are finished by hand.
  • The materials are TÜV-certified.

An autoclave applies heat and pressure at the same time. This removes trapped air and gives a dense, even part. Hand finishing then handles the edges and the lacquer.

⚠️ WARNING: Carbon fibre is strong but not indestructible. A hard impact can crack a part. Check the lacquer and edges regularly, especially after winter.

Fitment and Installation

Every part mounts on the factory points. The kit uses a bolt-on system. No cutting is needed. This keeps the process reversible and protects the original body.

Stock sensors and cameras keep working. This is important on a modern Cayenne. The car relies on parking sensors, cameras and driver assistance systems. A kit that blocks them would be a bad trade.

Professional installation is available. LARTE Design works with a partner network of certified local installers. A trained installer knows where the factory mounting points are. He also knows how to align large panels.

Check the car after installation

A bolt-on kit should not trigger faults. Still, a careful owner verifies the result. Parts around the bumpers and mirrors are close to wiring and sensors. A loose connector can disturb a sensor during installation.

A short test is worth doing:

  • Check that all cameras show a clean image.
  • Test every parking sensor around the car.
  • Confirm that the additional brake lights work with the factory lights.
  • Read the stored fault codes from the control units.

A bidirectional scan tool helps with the last step. The THINKCAR THINKSCAN 689BT reads fault codes and live data from control units. Check its coverage for your exact model and year first. A clean report after installation gives you a baseline. If a warning appears later, you know it was not there before.

Design as an Investment

Porsche itself shows how strong the demand for individuality is. According to the company, 98% of 911 buyers order at least one option from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. Buyers want their car to be different.

There is also a financial side. A new Cayenne loses about 45% of its value in five years. Owners rarely choose it for resale. They choose it for the pleasure of driving.

LARTE Design treats the exterior as an investment in design. The logic is simple. The car loses value either way. The kit makes every drive more enjoyable while you own it.

This argument is not for everyone. Some owners prefer a stock look and a clean history. For those who want more character, the logic is easy to follow.

Availability

The LARTE Edition is available for the Cayenne S Coupé and GTS Coupé. It covers model years 2025 to 2027. Both accent configurations and the full exterior package are offered.

The process is personal. The owner sends a photo of the car and the preferred colour. A proposal with renders arrives within 24 hours. This lets you see the result before you spend any money.
