AC Schnitzer Reveals 810HP Tuning Program for BMW M5 Touring G99
AACHEN – AC Schnitzer has officially unveiled its comprehensive tuning program for the BMW M5 Touring (G99), transforming the already potent hybrid wagon into a high-performance masterpiece. With a legacy spanning decades in Aachen, the tuning specialist has delivered a “mic-drop” project that combines aggressive aesthetics with a significant bump in hybrid power, ensuring the G99 stands out as one of the most formidable estates on the market today.
While the automotive world discussed the transition of the M5 to a heavy hybrid platform, AC Schnitzer focused on refining the S68 V8 powertrain. The result is a vehicle that maintains its everyday usability while offering performance figures that rival dedicated supercars.
Power Evolution: 810HP Hybrid Synergy
The standard BMW M5 Touring G99 is equipped with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 hybrid system producing 727 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque. AC Schnitzer’s engineers have successfully optimized the internal combustion engine to push the total system output to 810 horsepower and 1,100 Nm of torque.
Notably, the electric drive unit remains untouched, preserving the factory hybrid integration and efficiency. The performance upgrade focuses on the V8 engine’s management and airflow, resulting in a smarter, more reliable power increase. This allows the heavy touring model to maintain its explosive acceleration, with 0-100 km/h times expected to drop below the factory 3.5-second mark.
Chassis and Stance: Lower, Wider, Sharper
To complement the power increase, AC Schnitzer has introduced a specialized suspension spring kit. This upgrade lowers the M5 Touring by approximately 20 mm, significantly improving the center of gravity and reducing body roll in high-speed corners. The lowered stance, combined with the wider track provided by the new wheel setup, gives the G99 a much more aggressive presence on the road.
The vehicle sits on 21-inch AC6 forged wheels, featuring a signature Y-spoke design. These lightweight wheels are available in “BiColor” silver/black or a “Ceramic Compacted” polished finish. Beyond the aesthetics, the wheels are designed to reduce unsprung mass, allowing for sharper steering response and better heat dissipation for the massive M Performance braking system.

Aerodynamics and the “Sound of Aachen”
Aerodynamics play a crucial role in managing the G99’s performance at high speeds. AC Schnitzer’s wind-tunnel-tested aero kit includes:
-
Front Splitter and Side Wings: Increasing downforce on the front axle.
-
Side Skirts and Rear Diffuser: Optimizing airflow underneath the vehicle.
-
Roof Spoiler: Specifically designed for the Touring model to maintain stability at speeds exceeding 300 km/h.
The acoustic experience is also transformed. A new stainless steel exhaust system features four 110 mm “Carbon Sport” tailpipes. The sound is deep and resonant, emphasizing the V8’s character while meeting strict European noise and emission regulations. The integration of carbon fiber tips ensures that the exhaust looks as aggressive as it sounds.
Interior Refinements
Inside the cabin, AC Schnitzer maintains a balance between racing inspiration and BMW’s original luxury. The upgrade package includes high-quality aluminum components such as:
-
Aluminum Pedal Set and Footrest: Providing a tactile, motorsport feel.
-
Aluminum iDrive Cover: Adding a custom touch to the center console.
-
Keyholder: A signature AC Schnitzer accessory.
These subtle changes enhance the driver-centric environment of the M5, reminding the occupants that they are behind the wheel of a specifically tuned German powerhouse.
Market Impact and Availability
The AC Schnitzer program for the G99 M5 Touring is available for global markets starting in early 2026. As one of the first major tuners to tackle the G99 platform, AC Schnitzer has set a high bar for the industry. The program is modular, allowing owners to choose between aesthetic upgrades or the full performance package.
As BMW continues to push toward electrification, projects like the 810HP M5 Touring prove that internal combustion refinement and hybrid technology can coexist to create the ultimate driving machine.
