A BMW i4M Render Imagines the Neue Klasse’s Sportiest Coupé Yet

BMW hasn’t confirmed a next-generation i4, let alone an M version of it. That gap between what’s known and what’s plausible is exactly where this new rendering lives. It takes the brand’s Neue Klasse design language, borrows heavily from the M Concept Neue Klasse show car, and reshapes both into a two-door coupé that reads as a believable answer to an obvious question: what happens when BMW’s electric performance ambitions get a production body?

Not Just a Two-Door Sedan

The easy approach would have been shrinking the upcoming i3 sedan down to two doors and calling it a day. This rendering does something more deliberate instead. The proportions, surfacing, and detailing are reworked rather than copied, landing closer to an original interpretation than a simple derivative.

That distinction matters. A coupé built this way suggests a genuine gap in BMW’s future lineup — something between the concept-car theatrics of the M Concept and the more restrained i3 sedan.

A Front End Borrowed From the M Concept

The nose is where the M Concept Neue Klasse’s influence is most obvious. Extremely narrow headlights, an aggressive front splitter, and a deeply sculpted hood carry over almost directly. The daytime running lights mix white and yellow accents, a detail that reads as both modern and unmistakably aggressive up close.

Wide fender flares, pronounced side skirts, and flush door handles round out the sides — the handles lifted straight from the new X5’s design vocabulary. Even the mirrors track closely with the concept’s shape, giving the render a production-ready feel that’s often missing from purely speculative sketches.

ℹ️ Technical Note: Flush door handles aren’t just a styling choice. On EVs, they measurably reduce drag at highway speeds, which is part of why BMW has been rolling the design across multiple models rather than treating it as a one-off concept flourish.

A Rear End With Motorsport Intent

The back of the car stays close to the concept’s language while pushing it further. Slim taillights stretch nearly the full width of the car, a detail that’s become something of a signature move across recent EV design more broadly.

The rear bumper is toned down slightly compared to the show car, but a large diffuser makes the performance intent clear. Large forged wheels, a Dark Frozen Grey paint finish, and heavy use of black contrast trim complete the look — together, they wouldn’t be out of place as a flagship electric M model.

Still Entirely Speculative

None of this is confirmed. BMW hasn’t announced a next-generation i4, an i4M, or any variant using that naming. What exists is a design study, not a product roadmap.

That said, the logic behind the speculation holds up. As the Neue Klasse platform expands, a sportier two-door body style would fit naturally into the lineup, sitting between the practicality of the i3 sedan and the concept-level ambition already shown with the M Concept. Whether or not this exact car reaches production, it points at a real gap BMW will likely want to fill eventually.
