Nilu27 Hypercar: 1,070+ HP Naturally Aspirated V12 & 7-Speed Gated Manual Champion Mechanical Purity

Designed by world-renowned automotive designer Sasha Selipanov (former Head of Design at Koenigsegg and Bugatti), the Nilu27 Hypercar debuts as an intentional counter-movement to the electrification, hybrid weight, and automated driver aids dominating the modern hypercar landscape. Rejecting dual-clutch transmissions, turbochargers, and digital screen-filled cockpits, the Nilu27 pairs a custom-built 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine with a 7-speed gated manual transmission.

Engineering for the project was executed in partnership with Hartley Engines, yielding an extreme powertrain capable of revving to 11,000 RPM while pushing past 1,070 HP.

Technical Powertrain Architecture: The Inverted “Hot-V” V12

At the core of the Nilu27 lies a bespoke 6.5-liter naturally aspirated 80-degree V12 engine developed from scratch alongside New Zealand-based Hartley Engines. In contrast to conventional naturally aspirated layouts, the motor utilizes an inverted “Hot-V” exhaust configuration.

Key Engine Innovations:

  • Central Exhaust Routing: The exhaust manifolds exit directly into the top valley of the engine block rather than out the sides. This optimizes thermal management, minimizes exhaust pipe length, and highlights the intricate 3D-printed Inconel exhaust system.

  • 12 Individual Throttle Bodies: Provides instantaneous throttle response and precise fueling control across the entire rev range without electronic delay.

  • High-Revving Internal Design: Engineered with lightweight internal rotating assemblies to safely reach an 11,000 RPM redline while preserving structural durability.

The cabin explicitly excludes infotainment touchscreens, driving mode menus, or steering wheel buttons. Machined aluminum toggle switches handle primary functions, while a compact screen integrated into the central rear-view mirror provides necessary visibility during parking maneuvers.

Chassis Dynamics, Aerodynamics, and Suspension

The chassis employs double wishbone suspension with pushrod-actuated twin-tube dampers exposed through the rear mesh bodywork. This allows direct visual inspection of suspension movement during track operation.

Aerodynamic downforce is generated through an aggressive venturi tunnel system under the floor, supported by a large rear diffuser and an open-tail rear fascia that exits engine heat efficiently.

Design Genesis and Aesthetic Philosophy

Sasha Selipanov designed the Nilu27 as a homage to classic 1960s Italian racing prototypes while integrating modern aerodynamic principles. The exterior surfacing eliminates unnecessary cuts, vents, or complex active aerodynamic wings in favor of smooth organic shapes and exposed mechanical elements.

By keeping the engine, exhaust pipes, and suspension components completely visible from behind, the Nilu27 highlights its pure mechanical layout as the main design element of the vehicle.

Production Volume and Market Allocation

Production of the Nilu27 Hypercar is capped at 69 total units globally, split into two distinct manufacturing phases:

| - 54 Units: Fully Road-Homologated Street Specification |
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Hand-built in limited numbers, the Nilu27 stands out as an uncompromised collector vehicle designed for purists who value high RPMs, manual gear shifts, and raw mechanical feedback over lap times dictated by software.
